Just bought a 21 ft travel trailer/camper (dry weight apprx 3000lbs)...I am towing with a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport (2dr, 4x2, auto). After driving in the rain a little bit today, I am thinking I should really get brake control installed on my vehicle. I am NOT pre wired for it. I was quoted at $400 by a local trailer company out here in Vegas...is this too much?Reasonable price for brake control for travel trailer with labor?
For parts, labor and a warranty that's a very good price.........Reasonable price for brake control for travel trailer with labor?
I'm sure there is more than one trailer dealer in Las Vegas where you can have this done, so shop around. Prices for electronic trailer brake controllers are all over the map, from less than $50 to over $200. Installation of a wiring harness shouldn't take more than 1-2 hours, so check their shop rates to see if this is a good deal. You might even check a U-Haul dealer, as some of them do brake controllers and wiring when they install hitches.
