Can't afford Pest control prices so how do you get rid of wasps nest - without getting stung!!?

Nest removal or getting rid of wasps, particularly social wasps, is a fairly simple process. Finding the nest usually entails a quick survey for heavy wasp traffic during dusk or dawn, when wasps tend to return to the nest. Once the sun is down for the evening and you鈥檝e noticed less traffic near the nest, dress yourself with multiple layers of clothing, and find a pair of gloves, just in case. Then, go out to the nest and spray the entrance with any wasp killing agent, like Raid for example. Spray liberally, but avoid inhaling too much of the poison. Most wasp poisons kill on contact, but it鈥檚 best to be safe by slowly leaving the area, sudden movements can attract attention.

Which wasp killer you use depends on where the nest is.

For nests that are located underground, you will want to use a wasp killer that is not labeled as a projectile spray. You want very little spray for yellow jacket nests that are found underground.

For nests that are elevated, you will want to find a can of wasp %26amp; hornet killer that is labeled as a projectile spray. This will ensure a stream of wasp poison roughly 15-20 feet in length. Plenty of distance to make a quick escape if necessary.

Repeating this process twice or even three times may be necessary until you鈥檙e certain the nest has been vacated. Once you see that there is no traffic, it鈥檚 probably safe to knock down the nest if it鈥檚 an aerial nest, or fill the nest with dirt and gravel if it鈥檚 in the ground. This should be the end of your wasp problem until the next migration cycle. Can't afford Pest control prices so how do you get rid of wasps nest - without getting stung!!?
There are two types of wasp killer-a powder that you put round the entrance to the nest (they carry it in on their feet) and a foam that you spray onto the outside of the nest that penetrates the papery outside skin. Bio(foam) is v.good,Bayer works(though the range is not as good as Bio) and Rentokill is rubbish(a whole can had no effect) In the U.K. your local council pest control department should do this for you at no charge. Can't afford Pest control prices so how do you get rid of wasps nest - without getting stung!!?
Smoke them out.
Wait until it's dark and cool, so the wasps are dormant, then spray lots of a good quality wasp killer into the nest. You may need to do this a few times to kill all the beasts. For extra confidence wear long sleeves, a hat and veil etc!
Contact your Enviromental Controle Office, at your council office
How big is this wasps nest and can you see it to destroy it?

I would go towards it armed with a mask over my mouth to prevent any flying in and a can of spray wasp killer, to try to kill them as they came towards you. Also i would wear some very thick clothes, which were taped to my body around the neck, wrists, waist and ankles.

PS if you leave lots of bowls of beer out next to the nest lots of the wasps fly in and drown too.
I woul light a bonfire and make plenty of smoke, that might deter them.
I've always used an oily rag on a long stick, a match and the ability to run like the clappers.
Easy, use a product called ';Home Defense';. It has spray or stream
As suggested, wait until dark when the wasps are dormant.

In a spray bottle, put apple cider vinegar (not diluted) Spray the heck out of it and run.
Go to Home Depot, Lowe's or Fred Meyer or your local hardware store and get a spray can of wasp killer. This cans are designed to shoot a stream of the insecticide 20 to 25 feet. Locate the nest, stand back and saturate the nest with the insecticide. It is best to this in the cool of the evening when it is almost dark. Because most of the wasps or yellow jackets or hornets will be in the nests at that time of day.
buy a plastic suit from a diy store and a good helmet to cover your face, spray smoke in the wasp nest (this will blur them but make them very very angry) and put the nest in a bucket and seal the lid properly and take it to the dump or to the wild somewhere and run.

glad its not my wasp nest as it would be hell to do
Ring the council.
Mad is right, some of the powders are taken in as food and fed to the lave, then the colony dies off. If it isn't in your way I'd be inclined to leave it until the winter when the workers have died off and the queens are in hibernation else where then remove it.
Use the Wasp and Hornet spray cans that spray up to twenty five feet. They kill almost instantly.
tell your man to do it. i suggest a broom and a camera for momentos sake.
