Does BushCo control the price you pay for gas?

No, as anyone with a simple class in econmomics from high school would already know.Does BushCo control the price you pay for gas?
yup and

the Moon is made of cheeseDoes BushCo control the price you pay for gas?
Uh, no, speculators do. Oil/Gas producers sell to distributors or other intermediaries for quick cash flow....the price you pay at the pump is mostly derived from the combination of taxation (excessive in most states) and what the market rate for the commodity is (in this case oil or gasoline). Couple in the extra cost for winterizing or summerizing gasoline, and you pretty much have many fingers and hands involved on pricing gasoline. Thankfully, the US government isn't one of them, although the military is the largest purchaser of diesel fuels, they've been taking down their own inventories of late, but will soon start buying on the open market.

This nation runs on OIL and GAS. We need it, you need it, everyone needs it. It's time to stop apologizing for that fact.
Hey.....stupid dem.........shouldnt you be out helping the wetbacks get accross the border instead of asking such stupid questions???

There isn't much that Bush is not in control of, He is in bed with the gas companies. It all goes back to the ';good 'ole boys club'; and you %26amp; I are not in it.
You foreigners don't even realize that the Summer Demand is over and gas is lower.

Camels don't use gas, do they?
Maybe he's in bed with the Illuminati, the Tri-lateral Commission, the CIA, and the Mafia. Was there a grassy knoll?
Not even a U.S. president or a government can control the price of gas. Yes, there are small, very small price changes that can be influenced by the freeing up our National petroleum reserves, but when Clinton did this in 2000, it only brought the cost of self serve down one to three cents.

In the long term governments could significantly alter the price of gas by either taxing it less or more, or giving breaks to low emiision vehicles or giving breaks to company's who induce a fuel efficient work force or if we were to create an Apollo type of national effort to completely rid ourselves of fossil fuels (which we could do, but that's for another talk.)

So no good ole boy George W. cannot in the short term significanlty alter the cost of oil or gasoline. The markets are just to gigantic.
If only it were that simple. The price we pay for gas is largely dependent upon OPEC production as well as the production of countries who are not part of that cartel. Gas prices are so high because of a shortage of supply coupled with a high demand because every suburbanite in this country has to own at least two SUVs.
Yes, it is all part of an evil plot to destroy your coco crispies.
i agree with Anne A. she couldn't have said it better. thank you dear!!!
Does he control the price of gas no. However is not going to do anything to help bring it down. The oil companies provide a lot of election funds for both political parties. Also he as well as most other American politicians are invested in the oil companies. Does he control the price? No, could he provide more pressure to the oil compaines to keep prices lower. Yes I think he could. Will he take money out of his pocket by doing so, no. No politician will.
Ever notice that whenever an oil guy gets into office (George H.W. Bush, Cheney, Dubya) that gas prices sky rocket and we some how find ourselves at war with an oil rich country?

Lets just say that I was paying 1.25 a gallon when Clinton was in office. Oil guy Bush and Cheney get in their then BAM!!! I'm paying through the roof for gas.

I'm sure it's all a big coincidence though. I'm sure it's also a coincidence that gas prices dropped just before election.
I really think he does...he has been padding his %26amp; his rich buddies pockets for the 6 years. He will be padding his pockets more in the next two years IMPEACH him now on war crimes!
Just passing this along from other members. Very interesting indeed.
