Gas Prices & Gas Companies saying they cant control the price of gas anymore. WHY?

Ok my question is this. I keep seeing CEO's and everyone else of oil companies saying we have to charge as much as we do to barely make it and such. If that is the case, why are they having record profits and retiring people on millions and millions of dollars. I see NO reason why gas cannot be $1.50 no matter what OPEC says or anyone else. Profit is for share holders. They invest for a return on their money. The reason prices are high has to do with the speculation on the market. Soon it will adjust itself. Hold on!Gas Prices %26amp; Gas Companies saying they cant control the price of gas anymore. WHY?
Well first, record profits are only 8%.





Exxon supposedly made 36 billion in profit last year, but Exxon sold 307 billion gallons of gasoline last year.





So even if they took no profit at all.





That would only account for 11 cents a gallon off the price of gasoline.





And your conclusion makes no sense at all,





No matter what the cost of oil, gasoline should cost $1.50 a gallon ?





What if the oil cost more than that per gallon?





Like right now !!!!!!





A barrel of oil cost $90.00, a barrel of oil has 42 gallons of oil.





Thats $2.14 a gallon, just for oil.





Now you don't think that each gallon of oil makes a gallon of gasoline do you.
Yes and then you see Detroit building even bigger SUV's with lower mileage and the US using 80% instead of 60% of all the worlds oil resources.

Remove all the State/Local and Federal Taxes on fuel and you would have $1.50 a gallon.. hmmmm We see the Palosi congress will not budge on that and even want new taxes.... yep the Congress that promised lower gas......
Hey, if I was making that kind of insane money, I'd come up some lame excuse to keep it rolling in too.
Do we have more Refineries? Why the environmentalists prevent refining. Can we drill for more oil in the United States? No we may not because the environmentalists say we may not. Can we use oil shale? No we may not, Can we convert coal into petroleum? No. When you fail to add capacity and depend on dictators to produce oil you blame the evil oil companies while not examining your stupidity. The price per barrel is based in Liberal New York not in Conservative Texas
