Government cannot control prices or inflation by regulation. Well they can, but that's called communism, I believe. They can control inflation, however, by swiching back to the gold or silver standard - but they won't because that would mean they couldn't run up debt like they do now.How to alleviate monopolies through government control and price discrimination with utilities.?
Not going to happen, to many rich people getting richer from it, and the repuglicans in power.
When it comes to Utility companies the monopoly is sanctioned by the government. There are actually laws in most places to keep new utilities from coming in. Governmental controls are the problem, not the solution.
