How do Conservatives justify the high price of gas when the US is in control of one of the richest oil fields?

...kind of funny actually that we could have 150,000 of the best trained military people in the world in a little country like Iraq, but we still can't even provide enough security to get oil out of the most oil-rich country in the world! HA!How do Conservatives justify the high price of gas when the US is in control of one of the richest oil fields?
We are not getting oil from Iraq. That is just a dumb assumption by people who know nothing except Bush hatred on the left. Oil prices are high because of that thing called market forces and supply and demand. Right now refineries are cutting production to retool and get ready for the summer demand. How do Conservatives justify the high price of gas when the US is in control of one of the richest oil fields?
Conservatives are not the ones behind the price of oil. It is consumers. If the price goes up and we don't buy, then the price will decrease. Supply and demand. If you complain about the price of gas and then still buy, then it is partly your fault.

To the one who mentioned OPEC, sorry but we do not buy oil from OPEC. It is a cartel, thus illegal. Take a look at this site to see US oil imports. They may set the prices, but if we continue to buy....
Conservatives have no control over fuel prices. The fact that we haven't developed a new oil field or built a new refinery since the Nixon administration has a LOT to do with it.
Perhaps, it might be because the far left won't let anyone tap the rich oil fields that exist in the US, which Congress and the EPA have put off-limits to drilling.
If the government had the control you imply shouldn't you be asking Pelosi. If Pelosi takes us out of Iraq how high will the price go?
Which oil field are you talking about? Iraq's? You think the US is actually in control over there? You can't pump oil when you're being shot at. Further, Hussein didn't think modernization or maintenance was important enough to bother with so long as he was getting enough to keep himself and his family in the lap of luxury. Additionally, there was sabotage. Now, they are unable to work until they are fixed.
Because, contrary to liberal spin, the U.S. isn't in control of the oil fields.

The people of Iraq are.
There is no justifying it. However, the lefty environmentalists don't want us to drill for anymore oil (ANWAR) or even build more refineries (EPA).
Liberals wont let us drill in ANWR. The largest portion of the price of gas is taxes. Nobody is trying to justify the price of gas, it is the market system in action.
What? Come back when you figure out the difference between politics and economics.
OPEC is our God, we can only pray to the OPEC God to give us better prices,

ironically, prayer is more effective and there's more hope in it than actually attempting to change anything with our corrupt corporatized government.

Why do Cons really believe Liberals are keeping the middle east funded because they are miraculously protecting Alaska? oh stop, it's almost comical if it weren't so sad. Give it a rest.
The price of oil is an economic one, not a political one. Oil will become incredibly pricey in the next decade.

Query ';Peak Oil';

Since the early 1970's the US production of oil has been on the decline. We are nearing the peak of worldwide oil production. Guess what happens then? Guess why we are strategically positioning ourselves in the Middle East?

Democracy? Freedom? Or is it, economic dominance of the world?
You asked for a conservative and now you shall have one. The price of gasoline is set by many factors. The panicky commodity traders are part of the problem. Every time some Middle Eastern tyrant belches they start overbidding on the price of crude oil.

Then there is the additional demand by the emerging nations like China. An awful lot of former bicycle riders buying automobiles over there.

Let us not forget that there there hasn't been a new refinery built in the U.S. since the 1970's. The old inefficient refineries have a hard time keeping the supply up and maintenance up too.

Oh, yeah, don't for get all the different gasoline formulas that various state EPA's are imposing on the refiners too. As well as all the taxes.

Need more?
